Thomas Ross "Tom" Keene CFA (born December 9, 1952), is editor-at-large for Bloomberg News and host of Bloomberg Surveillance on Bloomberg Radio and Surveillance Midday on Bloomberg Television. He created the chart-of-the-day article for Bloomberg News. Keene moderates panels and speaks before Bloomberg terminal users worldwide.

Background

Keene worked in the investment industry for sixteen years before joining Bloomberg. Keene is a member of the National Association for Business Economics, The Economic Club of New York, and the CFA Institute. He attended the University of Colorado, graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and enrolled in the external programme at The London School of Economics and Political Science.[1]

Keene edited "Flying on One Engine, The Bloomberg Book of Master Market Economists, Fourteen Views on the World Economy" (2005), which had two chapters selected for the CFA Level II curricula. Keene initiated the re-issue of Sidney Homer and Martin Leibowitz's book on fixed income investment "Inside the Yield Book: The Classic That Created the Science of Bond Analysis, New Edition"(2004).

Bloomberg career

Keene, with Al Mayers, created Bloomberg Surveillance, which is heard in New York City on WBBR 1130, across North America on XM channel 129 [2] and Sirius channel 130 [3], and at Bloomberg.com. Keene and co-host Ken Prewitt interview leaders in finance and investment and present news concerning equities, currencies and commodities. Keene also created Bloomberg on the Economy (hosted by Michael McKee and Sara Eisen), which provides long-format discussions on politics and economics. Notable interviews included Milton Friedman and Robert Lucas, Jr., Meghnad Desai following the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, John W. Dower, and Reggie Jackson on Willie Mays.

Bloomberg on the Economy and Bloomberg Surveillance were selected for the iTunes 2009 Rewind: Podcasts, Best of 2009 selection.[4] [2]

Keene writes a weekly interview column and blog, EconoChat, for Bloomberg Businessweek. [5]. Bloomberg Markets Magazine features a Keene interview in each month's issue.
